Dear Parents and Carers

I am writing to you in light of the heartbreaking events that took place on Monday at All Saints Catholic High School, which resulted in the tragic loss of a young life.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Harvey Willgoose’s family, friends, school staff, and the wider community during this incredibly difficult time.

Events like this are deeply shocking and can bring feelings of sadness, anxiety, and uncertainty for young people, their families, and the wider community. Sheffield City Council is working closely with our schools, who are providing support and care to those affected.

Thankfully, incidents like this are extremely rare. Safeguarding children and young people remains a priority for every school, and staff play a vital role in offering stability, routine, and emotional support to help young people process their feelings.

Sheffield is a strong and compassionate city. Together, we will do all we can to support those affected, provide space for a grieving family, and create a calm, safe environment for our young people, school staff, and communities to come to terms with this tragedy.

Yours sincerely

Pat Butterell

Interim Director of Early Years, Education and Skills
